Own Goal and Silva Strike Earn Champions First Derby Win in Five
Manchester City delivered a dominant performance as an Eric Bailly own goal and a Bernardo Silva strike earned the champions their first Manchester derby victory in five Premier League matches.
City took the lead in the seventh minute when Bailly turned a cross from Joao Cancelo into his own net. Silva doubled the lead in the 45th minute with a composed finish after a clever pass from Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester United pulled one back in the 56th minute through Marcus Rashford, but City restored their two-goal advantage just three minutes later when Phil Foden swept home a cross from Riyad Mahrez.
Erling Haaland added a fourth for City in the 84th minute to seal a comfortable victory for the champions.
